New Carlisle's Heritage of Flight
Posted Sep 28, 2022
Seventeen years ago New Carlisle’s Annual Parade of Planes organizers joined with The Heritage of Flight Festival Committee to present New Carlisle’s First Annual Heritage of Flight Festival and Parade. Expanded from a 1 day summer event, this 3 day fall festival has become one of our area's most popular attractions. The Heritage of Flight Festival boasts an impressive array of events and activities on Main Street in beautiful New Carlisle, Ohio.
We kick things off with a Classic Car Cruise-In on Friday night featuring live entertainment and an Auto Auction. In past years over 800 Classic Cars & Trucks have lined Main Street for one of the state's largest cruise-ins.
Saturday begins with the Impact Bethel Pancake Breakfast, more live entertainment and our main event; The Parade of Planes.
The 2022 Parade of Planes will proceed down Main Street at 11am. Community sponsored floats and appearances by local bands, celebrities and mascots, plus an amazing display of modern and historical aircraft make this one of the most spectactular parades in the region.
After the parade the Heritage of Flight Festival takes over Main Street offering a wide variety of budget friendly (and mostly free) activities for the whole family, including carnival rides and games, kiddie tractor pulls, our Annual Bike Show, street entertainment and an attempt to break the "Chicken Dance" world record.
Besides an awesome array of vendors featuring specialty foods, crafts, gifts items and more, the popular Beer & Brat Hangar, located across from the main stage, will be open all weekend, featuring big screen sports on Saturday and Sunday. Domino’s Pizza will sponsor a chicken wing eating contest on Saturday.
More live entertainment, rides and food are on tap for Sunday as well as the always-entertaining Easy Chair Races. This has become one of the real highlights of the Sunday activities. The festivities conclude with a 50/50 drawing on Sunday afternoon.
You won’t want to miss this year’s festival. So, mark your calendars for September 30th thru October 2nd in 2022. The Festival Committee is planning the biggest event we’ve ever had along with some special surprises. We will be updating the Schedule and Entertainment pages as Festival time approaches so check back often.
Although the Heritage of Flight Festival relies heavily on the cooperation of City Government and staff we receive no city, state or federal funding. All expenses are covered by our local business community, corporate sponsors, fundraising events and individual donations. Planning and scheduling have begun for this year starting with fundraising campaigns to help us reach our goal to add exciting new attractions. Please visit the donation page and make a contribution to this year’s festival. See all
